If you are looking to have a good time and want to go just a bit outside Bucharest’s city center to do it, then you can certainly find that adrenaline rush you have been missing in Herastrau Park. One of Bucharest biggest and most important parks, Hereastrau Park isn’t just a green oasis in the midst of Europe’s 6th largest city. It also brings together a series of extreme sport opportunities for people that go to the park for more than a casual walk.
The main attraction of the park is definitely the bungee jumping apparatus but due to licensing and weather conditions this may only be available during some summer months. If you’re lucky enough to be in Bucharest while the bungee jumping apparatus is installed and functioning then definitely go check it out. You will find it near the park’s skate park or you can simply explore this stunningly beautiful park and see when you run into it.
Herastrau Park is located in the northern part of the city, neighboring the city of Baneasa. You can get there by cab, with your personal car or by bus or subway. The Aurel Vlaicu subway stop is located in the Aviatorilor neighborhood, just a stone’s throw away from the eastern entrance to the park. You can also stop at the Aviatorilor subway stop, on the same blue line and enter the park through its main southern entrance.
The height of the bungee cord is 60 meters allowing for an adrenaline filled jump that can be undertaken by just about any healthy adult or teenager as long as they are over the age of 16. Each jump costs approximately 100 Ron, however, prices may vary depending on the season.
The bungee jumping apparatus is opened daily between 10:00 a.m. and 22:00 p.m. If bungee jumping isn’t your thing there are numerous other ways to have fun in the park. You can either check out the local aquarium, visit the Peasant’s Museum, located on the western part of the park or even do some rock climbing at the Aventura Park.
There are also numerous bars, terraces and restaurants where you can relax, get a delicious bite to eat or simply hang out with your friends or family. The huge lake is also an interesting attraction, allowing visitors to either work out or simply take a relaxing stroll by or through its waters. Sport fishing is also allowed, so if you find that appealing you will find a friendly community in Herastrau Park.
